Katie's mystery silk Indio!

Katie sent me an Indio. It had a very patchy dye job as you can see below.  I stripped it which got rid of the majority of patches apart from a section at one tail.  We agreed on magenta and a purple acid dye.  I gave it two dips as after the first one the patch was still shining through a lot.  It's now barely noticeable.  The colour is very hard to capture.  In real life it is a deep magenta with a purplish coloured weft.

After. Like I said, very hard to photograph. It's much deeper magenta in real life, with a subtle purplish shade weft thread.

It's all about shorties....

I love shorties. I REALLY LOVE SHORTIES. 2's and 3's are so handy, and when wrapped correctly can be every bit as comfy and supportive as a double hammock for example.  Here are some videos I did of my fave carries using a 2/3. :-*

Penny's nati dandelions part 2!

Penny originally asked for a tealy dye with navy acid dye. The first dip went a bit wrong, the entire wrap was super patchy, still unsure as to what caused it as I used the exact same method as I have done multiple times before. :/ anyway, stripped it and mixed up a jade/teal colour which means the patchiness is barely noticeable when wrapped, but actually has quite a nice effect in my opinion.  The first photo has the most accurate colour.

Vici's JKCC

Vici sent me her Oscha JKCC, asking for pink. I suggested after their pink bath that a purple acid dye might be nice for some contrast. She was chuffed with the result and requested action shots.

Vicky's Strato Adhar

Vicky sent me her Oscha Strato Adhar, she wanted me to strip it and acid dye pink.  The blue didn't strip much but went a lovely shade of pale turquoise. I think the result is quite striking.

I was sent a didymos tussah silk fish ring sling, which was to be somewhere between lime and emerald green. :)

Maria's JKAO

My friend Maria sent me her Oscha JKAO v2 for a makeover, as she wasn't feeling the colours. She wanted a turquoise shade, I opted for a pale aqua wash to keep the contrast and requested action shots!

My name is Lindsay (or Hutch in babywearing circles), I'm 27, I live in Northern Ireland, I'm an attachment/natural parent, full time babywearer and mummy to 2 amazing and ferocious little girls- Poppy (3) and Lola (12 months).  I enjoy anything creative, horror movies, cake and love COLOUR!

Penny's dandies part 1

Penny sent me a chopped wrap, a natibaby dandelions silk blend. She had had it chopped into a size 3 and a ring sling piece. The ring sling piece she asked for a gunmetal grey acid dye, the photo shows how it started and after the dye. Part 2 (size 3) coming soon!

Lynn's didymos 1975

I loved dyeing this wrap! The subtle pattern is still visible and looks really pretty. Lynn asked for a lime green and Cadbury purple grad overlapping in the middle.

Joanne's wedding dress!

Joanne sent me her wedding dress. She had gotten it made in 100% silk so it could be dyed after the big day and she could wear it again. She asked for a greeny teal colour, it involved several acid dyes toachieve the desired shade she was after but in the end was very happy with the result.

Jenny's 100% linen didymos

I had done linen/cotton blends before, but this was my first time dyeing a 100% linen wrap.  The result was slightly different, I could actually see the dye creeping up the wrap in the different places, as the nature of the fabric seemed to have areas which where more absorbent. The resulting effect was a 'speckled' look at it started the fade out. Jenny asked for turquoise and hot pink overlapping in the middle. :)

Hi! My name is Lindsay aka Hutch, and I like to dye things :)

This blog will be my journey learning through trial and (hopefully not too much) error through the world of gradation dyeing and acid dyeing amongst other methods.  Up until now, I have done a fair few grad dyes, all-over dyes and acid dyes for friends and acquaintances.  I've mainly done slings, but have done a few other items including a lady's wedding dress which she wanted dyed so as to be able to wear it again!
